Hydraulic works for the “fontanile Cagnola”
CAP HOLDING Spa
Consultancy and design
2009 - 2013
The project involved the detailed final design of a storage tank (volume 21.500 m3) in Rho, Province of Milan, as well as site supervision during its construction.
The first aim of the project was to create a new drainage system to be used to convey foul and combined flows generated by big upstream catchments (Arese, Rho). The second aim was to convert the existing ‘fontanile Cagnola’ to convey storm water and spill flows only, and to discharge them into the Olona river. The final objective was to build three big storage tanks, including the ‘L2’ tank, in order to control and limit flows being discharged into the river and to make sure these flows comply with the regulations by the ‘ex Magistrato del Po’. In particular, these regulations state that a maximum of 20 l/s per hectare of impermeable area can be discharged into the river, which means that peak values for discharged flows must be below 5 m3/s.
